We received positive feedback from the Honorary Consulate-General of Turkey that the exposition ‘Istanbul meets Leiden’, gets a lot of attention. Daily visitors come to look at our paintings. The newspaper of Leiden also featured an article on the exposition.
Part of the attention is due to paintings which Hakan and Marcel created on the windows of the consulate. Soon we will add some postings to get an idea of this special exposition. (for the ones who can’t bring the consulate in Leiden a visit ;))

During the exposition in Amsterdam the Honorary Consulate-General of Turkey showed intrest to display the works of Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP at the consulate in Leiden. From the 11th the works will be presented to the public. The expostion is named ‘Istanbul meets Leiden’. For the exposition Hakan has created a drawing of Rembrandt with a turban. More information will follow soon.
Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP will be an ongoing event. So we will go from city to city. We have the ambition to keep an exposition in Istanbul summer next year. We are excited to announce that Sandra Veenstra, storytelling photographer of Amsterdam, will join our exhibit in Istanbul.
Sandra’s work is characterised by colourful images of daily life in Amsterdam. Her work will give the Turkish public the chance to meet the colourful people and places of Amsterdam.
The exhibit in Amsterdam is over and the paintings are packed and stored. Looking back on the three weeks exhibit, we can say we have received many visitors. Most of them had some kind of Turkisch-Dutch background. Either from Turkish parents, or Turkish people who just moved here. Also Dutch people came to visit who have some kind of fond connection with Turkey. It was a good time and we enjoyed the stories people told us.
The Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP is an ongoing event. Keep following us, the collection will grow over time as we will seek to have expositions at more places in The Netherlands and Turkey. In the meantime we are back to the ezel to make more paintings.
Saturday we had the opening of the exposition in Gallery LBS4. The exposition was opened with an introduction by Marcel and Haken and complimented with a short speech of Ferhat Özgur, art professor at the Düzce University in Turkey.
