The pandemic of 2020 unfortunately made international cooperation and funding quite difficult. Travel is impossible and funding has closed down. Therefore we have turned to focus on our own private projects. What the future will bring we will see, hopefully we will meet again soon…! In the meantime do follow each of our developments at:
It’s possible to win, among others, free paints with the #vangoghmuseumchallenge, let’s see if the Almond blossom from the Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP makes a chance!
(The painting has found a new place to stay by the way)
From the 7th of November to the 13th of January we exhibit paintings of the Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP collection in Podium Mozaïek.
The international café-restaurant of Podium Mozaïek is a nice place to meet up. Podium Mozaïek strives for the connection and encounter between different cultures. Thus a perfect place for us to exhibit our work and connect Amsterdam with Istanbul!

From the 7th of November we will exhibit some of our works at Podium Mozaïek, International Culture Podium.
Be welcome at the opening at 18:30! The whole meetup is present; Hakan, Hilal, Marcel and Ilkay will each present their paintings this evening. Musician Jurijn Branderberg will accompany the evening with songs about selected paintings by each artist.
See you there!
We are sad and disappointed to inform that we had to cancel the Istanbul Amsterdam MEETUP exhibition. We have had an inspiring and pleasant exhibition in the central hall of the Rector’s Office of the Istanbul University for 5 days. Receiving a lot of visitors and attention. A special evening was hosted for Eureko Sigorta who received the two tulip paintings from Achmea.
The reason for the cancellation of the exhibition is the visit of a delegation of very high governmental members to the university tomorrow. The type of visitors and the character of the visit required a different type of artworks to be displayed in the central hall.
We are greatful that we had to opportunity to display our work at the university and we are looking forward to our next event. This will be back in Amsterdam!
Tonight the Leiden historian Cor Smit will give at 17.30 a lecture a the Rector’s office of the Istanbul University. Cor has been invited by us to share the stories of the historical connections which has been existing between Turkey and Holland. The topic is ‘450 years old friends’, because it is actually this year 450 years ago that the first official connections were made between the Ottoman Empire and the Dutch Republic.
It took some trouble at the Turkish custums office for Hakan and Kazim, but the paintings have arrived! We are slowly starting to organise the practical things for the reception. Some of the paintings need to be finalized, the catering chartered, a movie screen attached. Just three days to go…
